Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Lankio ("we," "us") handles data when you use Lankio Media Tools ("the Service"). It is written to accurately describe our actual technical implementation, not generic boilerplate.

Files you upload

Image tools (C2PA Checker, AI Remove Tool, EXIF Viewer, EXIF Remover, Metadata Viewer, Metadata Cleaner, Image Privacy Checker) process your file entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. These files are never transmitted to our servers or any third party. Closing the tab or loading a new file discards the data from memory.

Video tools (Video Metadata Checker, Video Metadata Cleaner) require brief server-side processing because there is no reliable way to run the required tools (ffprobe/ffmpeg) inside a browser. When you use one of these tools:

• Your file is written to an isolated, randomly-named temporary directory.
• It is processed (metadata read or stripped) using a fixed, sandboxed command.
• The temporary file and directory are deleted immediately after processing completes — including when processing fails — in a guaranteed cleanup step.
• We do not retain, back up, inspect, or share the contents of any uploaded file.
• We do not log the contents of uploaded files or extracted metadata.

Information we do collect

Our hosting infrastructure and server logs may record standard technical data for operating the Service and preventing abuse — such as IP address, request timestamps, and basic request metadata (e.g. which endpoint was called, response status, and file size) for the video-processing endpoints specifically, since those endpoints are rate-limited per IP address to prevent abuse. We do not use this data for advertising profiling.

Cookies and advertising

See our Cookie Policy for details on cookies. If and when Google AdSense is enabled on this site, Google and its partners may set cookies and use data as described in Google's own policies; we will update this section and our Cookie Policy at that time.

Third-party services

The C2PA/Content Credentials checking WebAssembly module and worker script are self-hosted from our own servers, not loaded from a third-party CDN, specifically so that using this feature does not involve a request to a third party.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
