About Lankio Media Tools
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Lankio Media Tools is a free toolkit for inspecting and cleaning the metadata embedded in photos and videos — EXIF, IPTC, XMP, ICC color profiles, and C2PA Content Credentials — built by Lankio.
Why we built this
Most files carry more information than is visible at a glance: exact GPS coordinates, device details, editing history, and increasingly, signed provenance data about whether and how AI was involved in creating an image. That data is useful in the right context and a privacy or trust liability in the wrong one. We wanted a place to inspect it clearly, without ambiguity about what's actually happening to your files.
Our approach
- Privacy-first by architecture, not just policy. Image tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly — files are never uploaded. Video tools use a temporary, isolated, immediately-deleted server file only where there is no practical browser-only alternative.
- Honest about limitations. We don't claim removing metadata defeats platform-side AI detection, and we don't claim a C2PA manifest proves authenticity. See our Disclaimer for the full picture.
- Built on open standards and open-source software, including the official C2PA project's
c2pa-webSDK and theexifrandffmpegprojects.
